Use clean scissors or a sharp knife for trimming — blunt blades crush the stem and reduce water uptake. A cool spot with indirect light is ideal; avoid areas near appliances that produce heat or cold air. Remove below-waterline foliage and any dropped petals promptly to keep the water clean.
