Wild Purple Tulips have a vase life of 5 to 7 days when kept in cool, clean water. Change the water every day to prevent bacterial build-up.
Trim the stems diagonally by 2 to 3 cm before placing in the vase, and re-trim each time you change the water.
A cool room away from direct light preserves the purple tone. Warmth bleaches colour quickly in purple tulips.
Tulips continue to grow in water — stems may extend and lean slightly toward the nearest light source.
Remove spent stems one at a time rather than all at once; the fresher stems will last longer with fewer competing for water.
